While the automotive world had its attention firmly fixed onto the Paris Motor Show, Volkswagen made a surprise announcement today in Germany. The hot hatch we all knew as the 2015 Polo GTI is actually available right now… sort of.
Deliveries won't be honored until next year, but the Polo GTI can already be ordered from €22,275 as a 3-door with a manual gearbox. Now, that might sound like a lot, but prices in Germany are a little higher. The GTI is actually only a tad more expensive than a basic Audi A1 with a 1.4-liter TFSI.

We did a quick tour of the configurator and found out that fuel consumption is about the same as the old Polo GTI. We were surprised, however, by the fact that the 0 to 100 km/h acceleration takes 6.7 seconds with the manual as well, not just DSG.

As part of a €620 option pack, you can now get rid of the tartan pattern on the seat centers and replace it with Titan Black Alcantara, which might be a good idea.

Highlights of the options list include the €890 panoramic roof, adding an extra pair of doors for €800 (yes, doors are an option at Volkswagen) and navigation for €500.

As a quick reminder, the 2015 Polo GTI is a refresh of the model launched by Volkswagen a few years ago. The 1.4-liter twin-charged TSI engine has been replaced by a larger 1.8-liter TSI. Output has been increased from 180 to 192 PS and a manual gearbox has been made available.
