2015 Volkswagen Passat B8 Imagined as Base Model

This recent frenzy where designers imagine how supercars looked if clients could have bought them in Dacia Sandero’s entry-level trim is contagious. We’re saying this because X-Tomi Design just came up with his own version of a base-spec 2015 Volkswagen Passat B8.

Now, we know that in recent years the Passat became a major premium-wannabe car model - and even succeeded in some aspects with the B8 generation - but a base-spec set of clothing does not honor the king of the midsize segment in Europe.

Lucky for us or unlucky for fans, X-Tomi couldn’t care less about the sedan’s status as he came up with a base-spec variant of the new VW Passat. It’s not the first time he’s done it and we’re pretty sure it won’t be the last. But we’ll have to see about that.

So, here’s the 2015 Passat, tortured by steel wheels, plastic bumpers and a cheap air surrounding it. In other words, good God, that’s an ugly looking car. We almost expect Jeremy Clarkson to come and smash it into a truck. Oh wait, there’s no TopGear for the time being and Clarkson’s future within the show is under a deep layer of darkness at the moment. My bad.

Just in case X-Tomi sees this, we would also like to see other fancy models touched by the horrific base-spec treatment. I mean, let’s start with the Ford Mondeo and carry on with, let’s say, the BMW 3 Series and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

Now, the Passat B8 is not an example or exotic or even enthusiastic design cues, but X-Tomi’s imagination managed to turn it into Frankenstein. Just see for yourself.
