Volkswagen has turned special-edition models into an art form when it comes to the VW Beetle, and that trend will certainly continue in 2015 with the introduction of the all-new Beetle Classic. Although the 2015 Volkswagen Beetle Classic was announced last month as the newest member to the Beetle lineup, VW waited until the car went on sale to reveal pricing.
While its subtle dose of retro interior styling is the key factor that distinguishes the 2015 Volkswagen Beetle Classic, its starting price might be its biggest draw. With a base MSRP of $20,195, the Beetle Classic represents a $100 price drop from the previously lowest-price model going into the 2015 model year. With the standard equipment included in this package, VW says this model represents a $1,500 discount over a comparably equipped Beetle 1.8T with an automatic.
The big changes to this model take place on the inside where the seats are covered in a two-tone pattern with a brown leatherette and cream-colored cloth seat inserts. Other standard features include VW’s entry-level navigation system, leather-wrapped shift knob and parking brake lever and satellite radio. On the outside, the Beetle Classic gets 17-inch Heritage alloy wheels, a rear spoiler and a color palette that is limited Pure White, Black Uni, and Reflex Silver.
Even though the 2015 Volkswagen Beetle comes with a choice of two standard engines, the Beetle Classic is only offered with the 1.8-liter turbocharged and direct-injected four-cylinder paired solely to a six-speed automatic transmission.
Initially, the 2015 Volkswagen Beetle Classic will only be available on the hatchback version, but early next year, VW will introduce the Beetle Convertible Classic. This model will be priced at $25,995, which is an increase of $825 over the current base MSRP of the 2015 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible.
