After the heritage-laden HA, HB, and HC, the Viva nameplate returned to the Vauxhall brand with this little city dweller. The British brother of the 2015 Opel Karl and 2016 Chevrolet Spark arrives in showrooms next month at a cheap and cheerful £7,995 OTR.
Just like its predecessors, the 2015 Vauxhall Viva was designed for modern, everyday life with room for up to 5 people. There's a single powertrain available at launch, consisting of a 75 horsepower 1-liter three-cylinder EcoTec engine that achieves 104 grams of CO2 per kilometer and a fuel economy of 62.8 UK mpg (4.5 liters per 100 kilometers.)

If you go for the ecoFLEX model (£8,170), that improves to 99 g of CO2/km and 65.7 UK mpg (4.3 l/100 km) thanks to a redesigned front lip spoiler, extended rear spoiler and ultra-low rolling resistance tires.

An honorable mention before we go any further: the IntelliLink 7-inch infotainment system will be available later this year, with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The newest kid on the A-segment is designed to appeal to customers looking for value for money, being defined by its value, functionality and cheeky looks.

The 3.68-meter (12 feet and 0.8 inches) long body shell makes a strong case for trouble-free parking in congested cities. Equipment-wise, there are two trim levels to choose from: the entry-level SE and top-of-the-range SL grade (£9,495).

In total, four models will be made available: SE, SE Air Con, SE ecoFLEX and SL. So what do the base and range-topping trim levels come with as standard? The highlights of the Vauxhall Viva SE include: ESP with traction control, Isofix child restraint system, a 60/4 split-folding rear seats, cruise control with speed limiter, trip computer, a stereo radio with AUX IN, steering wheel-mounted controls, daytime running lights, fog lights with cornering function, and 15-inch wheels.

The SE ecoFLEX and SE Air Con are redundant to be detailed, so let's finish this off with the 2015 Vauxhall Viva SL. Features over the SE include: electronic climate control, USB audio connection, Bluetooth music streaming and mobile phone connectivity, 6 speakers, a leather-covered steering wheel, dark-tinted rear windows and a set of 15-inch alloy rims.
