A couple of weeks ago, Audi wowed the sportscar world with the brand new TT and TTS. Built on the MQB platform, these lightweights come with a host of improvements, including an all-digital speedo that's also the navigation screen. That's some Star Wars stuff right there!
Unfortunately, like most cool things made by Audi, it takes a while before the new TT can be produced and homologated for US mass consumption, which means you need to forget you ever saw the Mk3 and continue buying the Mk2. Nice one Audi!
Audi USA announced slight updates for the old TT and TTS, which will carry it through another model year (2015) until the new car is available some time in 2015. Nothing new under the bonnet, though the hardcore TT RS is now officially discontinued.
New for the 2015MY TT, two packages have been made available, the TTS Competition package and the S Line Plus Carbon package. The first one includes two new colors , Imola Yellow or Nimbus Gray, fixed rear spoiler, 5-spoke Rotor wheels with silver finish and standard Baseball Optic leather seats. with Imola Yellow stitching.
Standard trim across the TT model range now includes a single-frame grille, LED daytime running lights and a pair of heated seats.
Carryover engines mean the standard model gets the same 2-liter TFSI as an A4, making 211-hp for 0-60 mph sprint in 5.3 seconds (5.6 in the TT Roadster). Meanwhile, the TTS bumps the power to 265-hp and the sprint time to 4.9 seconds.
There's nothing all that exciting about the 2015 Model Year TT and it's a real shame it's being allowed to survive for so long. But on the upside, if you've always liked the current generation, now's your chance to get a well-specced coupe/roadster.
