Seeing the Peugeot 108 and Citroen C1 being offered with an optional folding textile roof made it quite sour that the Toyota Aygo model comes only with a solid top. Worry not though, as the automaker decided to offer the option after all.
We were somehow expecting Toyota to pull this off, since all three cars are basically the same under their skin and they are also built in the same factory. The United Kingdom seems to be first to tick the optional folding roof box but it should spread throughout the whole European dealerships.
In the UK, this canvas roof is marketed as the X-Wave and is offered for £895 ($1,365/€1,167) on the five-door Aygo X-Pression variant, which also comes with 15-inch alloy rims, front fog lamps, LED daytime running lights, reversing camera, air conditioning as well as the new X-Touch infotainment system with DAB and Bluetooth connectivity.
As with its sister models, the X-Wave roof covers the whole length of the car and electrically opens up via a switch located on the map light controls on the headliner. However, unlike the other two French models, the cloth roof here appears to be offered only in black.
Luckily the Toyota Aygo comes with over six different panels that can be had in different color combination, such as the big X on the nose, bumper inserts, lower door moldings, dashboard trimmings as well as the air vents, shifter surrounding and the central console.
