Toyota kept us on our toes with two teaser photos but luckily for us, the 2015 Geneva Motor Show finally got underway and the Avensis facelift could be carefully examined in the metal. And guess what: it’s looking sharper than ever.
You’ll have to “blame” the French for the visual changes brought by Avensis’ second facelift, as Toyota decided to let its Design Studio ED2 in South-East France do all the talking in terms of design.

Which is great, because just as the official photos revealed, Toyota Avensis gained a laid-back aura that will no doubt help both the sedan and the wagon make o good impression in the European D-segment league.

Getting to see the car in the metal makes you realize that Toyota went a long way in perfecting design cues for its vehicles and this decision is really starting to pay off. Moreover, the Avensis is now produced in Derbyshire, United Kingdom and the development for the Avensis facelift was carried out in Belgium, in Toyota’s R&D center.

On the outside, the revised Avensis features LED headlights and taillights, chrome body accents and discretely redesigned bumpers plus 17-inch or 18-inch alloy wheels. On the inside, there’s a new 4.2-inch color TFT display that adds to the redesigned steering wheel and satin chrome accents.

Under the hood, Toyota Avensis facelift uses a new 1.6 D-4D engine developing 111 HP and 270 Nm (199 lb-ft). There’s also a new 2.0-liter D-4D unit good for 142 HP and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) but Toyota also mentioned that the existing 1.6-liter, 1.8-liter and 2.0-liter units have been revised for fuel efficiency and lower CO2 emissions.
