2015 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 TBR S1R Slip-On Exhaust Sounds Perfect

The S1R is the premium performance silencer in the roster of exhaust specialists Two Brothers Racing, so it was only a matter of time until they rolled out an S1R version of their sporty canister for the new Suzuki V-Strom 1000.

Truth be told, there was never anything impressive about the way a liter Strom sounded. But if you decide to spend some cash on this aftermarket can you’ll definitely step in the real adventure bike sound club. It’s not Akrapovic aural bliss, but it’s not far, either.

TBR’s S1R is the top-drawer slip-on unit, so you can expect premium craftsmanship, advanced technology and a performance boost, plus the killer carbon looks and the timbre change we already mentioned.

Aerospace carbon fiber

We’re not sure whether TBR is testing their exhaust in the outer space, but we can tell you that they are using aerospace-grade carbon fiber with extended resilience in high temperatures. As TBS describes their cans as “made with a 33 million modulus carbon tow then impregnated with the high temperature resin under very tight tolerances.” The end cap looks sharp as well, as Two Brothers Racing used other 1st class material for it. The end cap is made from magnesium and has received a Teflon coating.

The core is the S1R traditional spiral-wound perforated design and has a stamped spring-fit inlet matched by an aluminium CNC machined outlet. The exhaust can accommodate a noise reduction insert and is supplied with a rubber-lined mount.

Installing an S1R exhaust on your 2014-2015 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 will shave 10 lb (4.5 kg) off the bike, add 1,3 hp to the peak figure and 2.5 extra hp at 6,500 revs. The peak torque will increase by 1 lb-ft (1.35 Nm), with a max torque gain of 2 lb-ft (2.7 Nm) at the same 6,500 rpm.

These cans cost $600 stateside, and if you feel like riding a slightly nimbler, lighter liter Strom with a whole new voice, maybe the price tag is not that high.
