If you’re in the market for something compact that can also hold its own in off-road scenarios, then the Jimny is pretty much the most capable option out there. It may be old as a donkey, very spartan inside and a tad low on HP, but have you ever seen a Jimny owner not satisfied with the offroading bugger?
Neither did we. One potential reason for those Jimny owners’ grins is that Suzuki doesn’t overcharge you for it. The 2014 Jimny is priced at €15,190 in Germany or £11,995 in the UK, which is not a lot of money for go-anywhere fun. All nice and jolly, but British enthusiasts of the nameplate now get specification upgrades for the JB43 type 2015 Jimny.

Boasting with the same M13A 1.3-liter petrol, the 2015 Suzuki Jimny makes do with a modest 85 horsepower and 110 Nm (81 lb-ft) of torque. A four-speed automatic can be had as an option if you’re too comfortable to shift gears yourself, but a five-speed stick shift and a clutch pedal are preferred by most Jimny customers. Due to new European vehicle regulations, the 2015 Jimny is fitted with a gear shift indicator feature for more economical driving, electronic stability control and tire pressure monitoring.

Those three additions ramp up the price by 200 quid

Priced from £12,195 OTR, the SZ3 trim level can be had in one solid exterior paint or three metallic finishes, the latter being a £399 option. Still, we’d go for the posh Jimny SZ4 specification. Posh may not be the right word to be frank, so let’s say it’s just better equipped and a little more customizable.

Priced at £13,645 with the manual transmission or £14,545 for the four-speed slushbox, the 2015 Jimny SZ4 is fitted with Dark Silver 15-inch alloys, synthetic leather seats, air con, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and rear privacy glass as standard equipment. Lastly, Steel Silver and Khaki Green have been added to the metallic paint range of five shades available for the 2015 Suzuki Jimny SZ4.
