2015 Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa Has ABS at EICMA 2014

The Hayabusa has been with us for many years, in which time it has gathered many supporters and adversaries. If this is really a sport bike will always be up for debate, but the big toy has a timeless quality that many companies wish they could understand.

The GSX1300R didn't have many surprises to share with us during the EICMA show in Milan this year. However, we still approached this powerful Japanese bird of pray with anxiety.

Knowing that, Suzuki has shackled its bike with something that makes it a little bit safer: Antilock Brake System (ABS). It's amazing to think how people rode Hayabusa bikes at speeds in excess of 300 km/h without a system to protect them from wheel locking due to changes in road conditions or excessive braking.

The lightweight ABS system matches stopping power to available traction and reduces the chance of locking. Stopping power is available in abundance, thanks to a large Brembo Monobloc system with dual 310mm floating discs and 4-piston calipers up front.

New features introduced alongside tech bits

The 2015 GSX1300R features the Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (S-DMS) system, giving the rider a choice of three available engine maps to suit rider preferences and riding conditions.

The 2015 Hayabus is available across most major markets in November in two all-new styled color schemes – Metallic Thunder Grey with Glass Sparkle Black and Pearl Bracing White with Metallic Mystic Silver. Unfortunately, the one they showed in Italy is a more traditional blue with silver accents.

As far as the specs are concerned, you still get a 1,340cc inline-4 DOHC engine. It's said to deliver 197 horsepower at 11,500 rpm, coupled with 155 Nm of torque. While the output is almost the same as the latest Ducati Panigale models, the weight is more Harley Davidson than anything else: 266 kilograms. That's before you pack it with 21 liters of fuel.

This thing is not for everybody...
