Winged to the teeth, the STI comes packing a new 2.5-liter turbocharged boxer four-cylinder engine, sending 305 horsepower and 290 pound-feet of torque to all four wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. Unlike the WRX, this car is for the true driver and won't be available with a CVT. In fact, launch edition models come fitted with a short-throw kit that will later become an option. There will be a thousand of these in all.
Because there aren't that many fans around, Subaru has to carefully coax them into buying this car. So the STI Launch Edition is the only one that combines the WR Blue paint and gold BBS wheels, along with that superior interior trim.
