2015 Subaru WRX STI Sets New Isle of Man Record

The Isle of Man Tourist Trophy may be one of the most insane racing circuits in the world, but Subaru and Mark Higgins definitely match this when it comes to not being right in the head. After the tumultuous 2011 Isle of Man Tourist Trophy record, the duo is now back at it, having managed to set... a new record.

With the new 2015 WRX STI under his right foot, Mark registered an average speed of 116.4 mph (187.4 km/h), topping the 2011 average of 113 mph (181.93 km/h). We’ll remind you that the Isle of Man is a little place located between Great Britain and Ireland, which holds the annual Tourist Trophee. We’re basically talking about a 37.8-mile (60.86 km) course consisting of rather narrow public roads that are closed down during the event.

As for what happened during the setting of the 2011 record, Mark lost the car while driving at about 150 mph (250 km/h), showing a set of steel b...rains in the process of recovering it. We don’t even want to talk about what his co-driver went though.

Retuning to the 2014 record, Subaru just announced the feat via Twitter, with the full details of the run, as well as the video, set to arrive soon.

To get an idea of how far Mark went with manhandling that STI, we’ll tell you that the best a motorcyclist has managed to do so far was 132.3 mph (212.9 km/h).
