Here at autoevolution, we think that everything from the compact segment and above should have a reversing camera as standard. There's a camera on any $200 phone and that doesn't cost extra, so why can't all car companies make our life a little easier? Subaru has been listening and for he 2015 model year their Forester SUV is now featured with a reversing camera and a color multi-function display even on the cheapest base model.
Together with this announcement, the Japanese car company has released US pricing for the 2015 model year of the Forester, which is going to be available soon. YOu can now buy the Forester 2.5i in base, Premium, Limited and top-line Touring, with pricing starting at #22,195 plus $850 for the destination charge.
The standard rear vision camera was only previously available from the Premium trim level and up. Further up the range, the 2.5i Premium with a manual is now fitted as standard with a moonroof. Meanwhile, the 2.5i Touring model receives glossy 18-inch alloys and still feature Keyless Access & Start, HID lights and chrome rocker trim.
If you want a more powerful Forester, the 2.0XT with a turbo boxer engine starts from $28,495. and is only available with Premium and Touring trim levels.
Launched onto the market last year after a debut at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show, the Forester has been well received in auto reviews. The 2.5-liter engine is pretty much a carryover and is expected to get you 170-horsepower and 24 mpg city / 32 mpg highway / 27 mpg combined. There's also a new 250-horsepower 2.0-liter direct-injection turbocharged.
