2015 Smart Fortwo Commercial Humiliates Rivals Who Crash While Parking

Every guy looking for a parking spot on a weekend has cursed the Smart Fortwo. You think there's a free one ahead of you, but there's one of these toy cars hidden in there. No wonder people toss them in the river when they get drunk!

However, we have to admit that the Fortwo has undeniable advantages when looking for a parking spot. When I test-drove one a few months ago, it felt like all the parking jobs I had attempted until that point in my life had been done wrongly – it was that easy!

This following official commercial focuses on that ease of parking, and it shows how some of the smallest cars made in Europe struggle to fit in a space left vacant by theFortwo. They include a Volkswagen Up!, Renault Twingo, Fiat 500, MINI Cooper and Peugeot 108. Oh, and by the way, the Twingo and 2015 Smart Fortwo are the same underneath, so this is like sibling rivalry.

All these cars measure almost exactly 3.5 meters and are the smallest made by their respective automakers, A-segment hatchback. But the Fortwo is classed as a micro car, and not only is it shorter, but the wheels can turn wider, which also helps with parking.

There are a number of tradeoffs though, which Smart doesn't mention. For example, the suspension is harder to stop the body from pitching forwards and backward as a result of the tiny wheelbase. The engine is right behind you as well and carrying larger items is out of the question.

And if you are the type of person who worries about being able to park, the Smart isn't for you. Only experienced drivers can pull those ridiculously tight maneuvers. But if you know what you are doing, could you actually park a Smart by hand? Why, yes you can!

Editor's note: Did they really trash about 5 C-Class sedans just to promote one Smart?
