Previously spied in December wearing no camo whatsoever, the 2015 Shelby GT from American tuner Shelby American will be launched in a few hours’ time. Until the unveiling event starts (12 PM PST) at Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale auction venue, the company released a teaser videoclip of what’s there to expect from the modded FoMoCo pony.
Uploaded on Shelby’s official YouTube account, the 28-second clip doesn’t reveal anything else but the front fascia design of the snake-ified car, a start-up and some mild revving action. That’s enough to get our petrolhead hearts racing, but don’t get your hopes up with what's on the performance front.
Starting with the most obvious mods, the teased 2015 Shelby GT is garnished with silver go-faster stripes and a different front bumper incorporating a black-painted and dramatic-looking grille. The fog lights have been deleted, making room for a duo of air intakes, while the black lip spoiler and powerdome-style hood with vents on the sides round off the front fascia’s visual package nicely.
It’s hard to tell if that exhaust sound is enhanced by a mild Shelby/Procharger supercharger whine, but there’s no denying this kit will be featured in the go-faster bits and bobs list (GT/SC anyone?). Speaking of the performance-oriented add-ons, we expect to get things such as better Eibach suspension, a tire & wheel package, clutch and braking system upgrades and, of course, an Anti-Hop grabber package.
As for the standard 2015 Shelby GT treatment, it will hold a starting price of around $15,000 and come with the usual Shelby American visual upgrades both inside and out, better brakes and a Borla Performance exhaust and a lil’ handling package to boot. If you’re more of a Cobra guy than a ‘Stang enthusiast, we recommend to take a look at the retro cool 50th Anniversary Shelby Cobra 427.
