Shelby American Inc. has finally released the details of its aftermarket package for the S550 Mustang and we have bad news: it's a whopping $39,995 but happily you also get some extra bang for the buck, not just Shelby's menacing aesthetic add-ons.
From my point of view, it would've been nice if the tuner would offer a standalone visual package for the pony, not the full-fledged madness the 2015 Shelby GT is offered with. Believe it or not, those $40k will buy you a Ford Racing supercharger which hikes the V8's output to 625-plus HP.
Other than more power than the Shelby GT350R Mustang, customers also get a meaty Borla exhaust system with oval-shaped tips, Ford Racing half-shafts, a handling package with upgraded shock absorbers, springs and sway bars, 3.73 rear gears, Michelin tires, Shelby Venice wheels, Wilwood front brakes and a short throw gear shifter for the stick shift box.

On the visual front, $39,995 sans the standard 2015 Ford Mustang GT is enough dough for carbon fiber bits including a vented hood, splitter and aerodynamic diffuser, rocker panels, trunk spoiler, rear deck lid and mirror caps. Besides the Shelby lettering and striping, the company also offers a faux gasoline cap and a washer relocation kit.
As for the interior, don't expect anything more than a carbon fiber dash pod with three gauges, Shelby branded headrests, CSM dashboard and engine plaques, as well as Shelby GT door sill plates and a couple of branded floormats. Of course, there are numerous options as well, like the 700+ HP performance upgrade. Choose carefully though 'cause you can easily hit $90k - $100k speccing the 2015 Shelby GT Mustang.
