SEAT has decided to give its Ibiza supermini a second cosmetic update, after the one from 2012, which will go on sale this year and stay in production until 2016.
The automaker describes the "New Ibiza" as being up-to-date. However, the changes are even smaller than those of the 2014 Volkswagen Polo. On the outside, we can mention fresh 16- and 17-inch wheels and Moonstone Silver and Chilli Red paint colors. SEAT have also updated the LED daytime running lights, but since not all cars have this, it's not really a big deal.
We like the interior changes much more. For starters, you can order the same infotainment system as on the Leon. It's got those black and red menus, better phone pairing and navigation graphics. Models equipped with Climatronic air-con will also have a redesigned console.
There's also a new SEAT Sound System with six speakers, subwoofer, amplifier and individual setting options. (how Mercedes-like!) Keen drivers will immediately notice that both the steering wheel and the gear shifter have the same shape as they do on the bigger, more expensive Leon hatch.
"The new interface has been designed to highlight the relationship between the driver and technology by creating character lines that add functionality to the exact definition of its use, while the screen design provides the driver with a physical reference," the automaker says.
With a name like "Ibiza", it's a good thing that they made it as colorful as a rave party. The new Color Packs for the entire car family offer a new level of individualization. Bismuth, described as an elegant shade of brown, is among them, as is Velvet, a rich purple. There is also a strong red on offer, cool grey, as well as white, black and blue.
