Earlier we showed you the first batch of leaked official images of the 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe (C217), while also promising you that the press release should be here either later on today or tomorrow.
It turns out that the Mercedes-Benz PR machine was put into motion and the new S-Class Coupe has had its wraps taken off just now.
As expected and promised, the model is quasi-identical with the Concept S-Class Coupe shown in Frankfurt last fall, with the only major difference residing in the fact the shark nose has lost some of its “sharkness” from concept to production.
Nevertheless, we find it as being the most beautiful Mercedes-Benz in the entire current lineup and can't really wait to see, feel and especially drive one when it hits the market in the second semester.
To complete or even top the grandeur of its exterior design, the S-Class Coupe features no less than 47 Swarovski crystals encrusted in each headlight of the optional LED Intelligent Light System.
As far as the futuristic technologies that premiere on the model, we should probably mention the panoramic (1.32 square meters, or 14.2 sq ft of surface area) roof option with Magic Sky Control – whose transparency can be switched at the push of a button – and the ground-breaking active tilting function of the Magic Body Control suspension system – which makes the S-Class Coupe lean into corners by itself, like a motorcycle rider.
Just like its predecessors, the all-new S-Class Coupe (C217) is now the flagship model in the Mercedes-Benz range as far as both technology and pricing goes, but we have a feeling that its convertible version will be put on an even higher pedestal from these points of view when it gets launched in 2015.
