When it was introduced back in March 2012 at the Geneva Motor Show, the French automaker was quite proud of the Renault ZOE. The five-door supermini electric car is the brand's first-ever production vehicle to be designated as an all-electric model, ideal for everyday use in the city.
Originally rated at 210 kilometers (130.4 miles) of range on a full charge, the 2015 Renault ZOE has been improved to 240 kilometers (149.1 miles) without too much pomp and circumstance from Renault.
We're informed that the lithium-ion battery pack's charging system (Caméléon) has been improved as well, cutting down the charging time by 10 percent.
As if these improvements weren't enough to give a fresh appeal to the ZOE, the electric city car also received an in-house developed electric motor dubbed the R240. This lump uses less electricity per mile driven and it's lighter than its predecessor.
As before, the 2015 Renault ZOE is available in its country of origin in three guises: Life, Zen and Intens.
Developed by Renault engineers from the manufacturer's Technocentre and Cléon facility, the figures of the R240 electric motor mirror those of the old unit: 65 kW (88 PS / 87 HP) and 220 Nm (162 lb-ft) of torque, enough for driving in the city at rush hour.
Just like the pre-update, the revised Renault ZOE can be had from €22,499 in the Land of the Franks. With a significant rebate from the French government, the price tag of the 2015 Renault ZOE drops to a little over €16,100, which is Renault Clio money. Not bad for such an eco-friendly machine, eh?
