2015 Renault Twingo UK Pricing, Specifications Announced

Only two engines are available: a 1-liter three-cylinder mill that churns out 70 ponies without the help of turbos or a supercharger, as well as a 0.9-liter 90 horsepower turbo three-pot. The manufacturer informs that only the Dynamique trim level gets Renault's Stop & Start system for improved fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions.

The rear-engined, rear-wheel drive Twingo is the first model from the French manufacturer that gets the R & GO smartphone connectivity system across the lineup. Thanks to the radio, a universal cradle and a clever, free-to-download app, owners have intuitive access to a variety of navigation, telephone, multimedia and trip computer functions as well as internet radio and a host of other practical features. Dynamique models offer the option of the R-Link multimedia system with a 7-inch touchscreen, voice control, TomTom sat nav and 3D sound by Arkamys. Useful features such as a DAB radio, Bluetooth connectivity for your mobile phone and USB sockets are standard on every trim level.

Each and every third-generation version of the Renault Twingo (the entry-level Expression, the mid-range Play and the upmarket Dynamique) comes as standard with front and rear bumpers finished in the same color as the bodywork, a rear spoiler and LED daytime running lights. Other bits and bobs Renault throws as standard features include electric power steering, electric front windows, remote central locking, a speed limiter, steering wheel adjustment, a trip computer and gear change indicator, a lane-change function for the indicators and the automatic activation of the rear screen wiper when reverse gear is selected. The latter is a feature that might infuriate some drivers, and it's not that new when you consider that the Citroen Xsara Picasso did that more than 10 years ago.

A unique-in-segment folding front passenger seat and a split-folding two-seat rear bench as well as numerous cabin storage areas and three cupholders are also offered as standard. On the safety front, equipment includes Electronic Stability Control, Hill Start Assist, Emergency Brake Assist and four airbags. A tire pressure monitoring system also comes free of charge. Step up to the Play trim level and that adds air conditioning, height adjustments for the driver's seat and steering wheel and 15-inch black two-tone wheel covers. The Dynamique comes with goodies such as 15-inch alloys, pinstripe shoulder line decals, fog lamps, electric heated door mirrors, cruise control, a lane departure warning system, a leather-trimmed steering wheel and gearshift knob, white instrument backlighting and a neat folding ignition key. Customers that go for the nippy TCe 90 engine on the Dynamique trim level also get Variable Gear Ratio power-assisted steering, making the vehicle more agile and reactive at city speeds.

A lot of personalization options are on offer, but were most interested in the packaging of this little urban cruiser. With 3.59 meters in length, the all-new Renault Twingo is 10 centimeters shorter than the outgoing model, but it boasts with a 12 cm longer wheelbase (2.49 meters) and a whopping 22 cm more cabin room for both the front and rear passengers. The 8.59 m turning circle renders the third-gen Twingo as the best-in-class. Aside from the 52 liters worth of cubby holes in the cabin, the engine is tilted by 49 degrees to allow the boot to swallow up to 219 liters of baggage. If you need more, then just fold the 50:50 rear seats flat into the floor. As for fuel economy, that culminates with the 67.3 U.K. mpg and just 95 CO2 grams per km achieved by the Twingo Dynamique SCe 70 with Start & Stop.
