2015 Range Rover Order Books Open This Month

Since 1970, the iconic Range Rover continuously redefined what a luxury four-wheel drive SUV can do. In 2012, the flagship model received its 4th generation, which is snazzier and more affluent than ever before. Fast-forward a couple of years and here we are presented with the 2015 model year of the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, featuring enhanced performance and more personalization options to suit every need.

"As the world’s best luxury and premium sporting SUVs, the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport have long offered an unrivalled combination of performance, luxury and off-road capability," said Phil Popham, group marketing director at Jaguar Land Rover. "These latest updates ensure both vehicles maintain their market-leading positions, with a special focus on performance, efficiency and increased personalisation options."

Let's go into the explicits, shall we? Starting with the SDV8 powerplant, engineers have squeezed 40 more Nm of torque compared to the outgoing version of the mill, for a grand total of 339 PS and 740 Nm. The torque curve has also been improved (1,700 to 3,300 rpm) thanks to "detailed calibration changes." From 5th to 8th gear, the minor oomph upgrade provides 6.5 percent better in-gear acceleration.

As for the ZF 8HP70 eight-speed automatic box, this unit has been re-engineered with a revised torque converter incorporating a twin-spring damper. To top things off, all these little upgrades haven't affected the 4.4-liter SDV8 turbo diesel's fuel economy and emissions, which remain unchanged at 32.5 mpg and 229 g/km of CO2. So what about new or improved features adorning the 2015 model year Range Rover and RR Sport? Well, updated puddle lamps now project each model's silhouette onto the ground at night in order to light the way for occupants.

If that's not enough to float your boat, you should know that fixed panoramic roofs with power blinds are now available, as well as 19-inch alloy wheels with a Satin Dark Grey finish for buyers that wish to use smaller wheels where conditions and surfaces may prove more challenging for bigger rollers. An updated color palette also includes Aruba Silver and Kaikoura Stone finishes, while long wheelbase derivatives of both models can be specified with sophisticated 22-inch alloy wheels for the first time.

An Intelligent Cargo Mode feature senses if the rear seats are about to make contact with the front seats when folded down to increase luggage capacity, automatically moving the front seats forward. Once the rear seats have folded flat, the front seats are returned as close as possible to their original position. Starting this August, U.K. customers will be able to order the Range Rover Autobiography Black Long Wheelbase model, an intensely design-focused response to customers that desire more exclusivity.

To put it simply, this top-of-the-range model delivers higher levels of luxury with unique design finishes, precision leather detailing and new features to give this vehicle specification a distinctive and subtly different character both inside and out. Added comfort and functionality are evident with the optional Executive Class package, which offers two individual fully adjustable seats and a redesigned extended centre console with electrically deployable leather tables, USB charging sockets and bespoke lighting.

If you're in the market for such a model, you should know that it's only available with an exclusive new Lunar/Cirrus interior colour combination. Signature details include unique Santorini Black and Bright Chrome exterior trim, LED tail lamps, exclusive 21 and 22-inch alloy wheels, new seat designs with Semi-Aniline leather, customer-configurable mood lighting and additional swathes of leather.

Available to order from July 16th, the 2015 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport go even further with Land Rover InControl technologies. Remote and InControl Secure are now offered as standard on both luxury SUV models, integrating features such as SOS Emergency Call, Optimised Land Rover Assistance and a Smartphone App which enables you to connect remotely with your vehicle wherever you are.

InControl Secure tracks the vehicle should it be stolen. But that's not all. InControl Wi-Fi connectivity is also available as an optional extra, providing in-car access to a maximum of eight devices used simultaneously. Last but not least, InControl Apps allows owners to sync smartphone apps to the vehicle’s touchscreen, and is compatible with Apple and Android smartphones as well.
