As some of you know, Porsche is currently working to develop a facelift for the 991-generation 911 and it appears that boosting efficiency is high on the list of priorities.
As the adjacent spy images reveal, the 911’s updated front fascia features active grille shutters. Porsche already offers some of the most efficiency packages out there, but it seems like the engineers want to go on a green frenzy. Active grille shutters offer the best results on large vehicles, but Porsche is seeking to improve efficiency even through the smallest details.

As for the not-so-small changes to also be brought by the 911 facelift, the range is expected to welcomed a new turbocharged powerplant. The boxer configuration, a Porsche trademark, will be maintained, but this will be the first time when the 911 receives forced induction outside the range-topping Turbo moniker.

In fact, the vehicles you see in the adjacent images could be wearing the new turbo unit. The hint comes in the form of the air vents on top of the rear-placed engine.

The spied 911 also sports a center exhaust, again a new feature for the 911, at least in road-going trims - we have to explain that 911 RSRs (the racing versions) have been using this for quite a while now.
