Earlier this year, Panoz announced that it would be celebrating 25 years of existence with the 2015 Panoz 25th Anniversary Edition Esperante Spyder. Although the limited-edition car was unveiled back in April, the 25th Anniversary Edition Esperante Spyder is getting ready to make its West Coast debut during the Monterey Car Week.
The hand-built car will be on display at Gordon McCall’s Motorworks Revival, which hosts “vintage aircraft, fine cuisine, and beautiful automobiles from classics and concept cars to unique and special automobiles.” With only 25 examples of the 25th Anniversary Edition Esperante Spyder being built, this Panoz definitely qualifies in the latter category. This year’s event takes place on the evening of August 13.
With a construction that extensively features lightweight materials such as carbon fiber and aluminum, the Spyder weighs in at just 3,128. In base form, the Esperante Spyder comes with a 430-hp tune from the naturally aspirated V-8 and a six-speed manual transmission, but performance options include a 560-hp output using a supercharger, a paddle-shifted six-speed automatic and even an “800-plus horsepower” variant. With this combination of performance, the Esperante Spyder is capable of accelerating from 0-60 in just 3.7 seconds with a top speed of 172 mph. It can also do a quarter mile in 12.5 seconds at 112 mph.
Inside, Panoz says that the interior has been completely redesigned with more space and luxury. On the luxury side, almost every inch of the cabin is covered in either leather or Alcantara, and buyers can add their own flare with various wood and metal accents. The driver gets all of his or her information from a massive 10.6-inch digital gauge cluster tucked behind the flat-bottomed steering wheel.
Although it isn’t clear how many of the 25 examples are left, starting prices for these cars is listed at $179,120 for the 25th Anniversary Edition Esperante Spyder and $204,750 for the 25th Anniversary Edition Esperante Spyder GT.
