After months of waiting, Panoz has finally dropped a slew of images for its all-new 25th Anniversary Edition Esperante Spyder and Spyder GT models. To celebrate 25 years of racing, the Panoz Esperante has been reinterpreted for 2015 with improved performance, styling and luxury on both the Spyder and Spyder GT, and these special cars will be limited to just 25 examples of each.
The hand-crafted, American-made supercars continue to feature a sleek, racecar-like styling, but rather than the previous soft-top convertible, these 25th anniversary models use a sportier speedster design with the twin carbon fiber roll hoops. The track-oriented Spyder GT has a more menacing appearance with its wide-body look and carbon fiber splitter and diffuser. The 2015 Esperante models are also distinguishable from the previous cars by the rear end, which features center-outlet exhaust and a blacked-out center portion for the license plate and taillights.
Panoz touts the interior as the biggest change for its celebratory Esperante Spyder. In terms of just styling alone, the new interior gets rid of the vertical center stack and positions the gauge cluster in its proper position in front of the driver. Everything from the seats to the steering wheel has been updated for the Esperante Spyder, and it finally has a cabin design that is as stunning as the exterior.
A peek under the hood reveals the Ford-based power is still in place, with Panoz claiming that several different configuration are available from a base 430-hp, naturally aspirated V-8 to a supercharged 530-hp mill and even a custom-built, 800-hp engine. That should be plenty of power for this lightweight car, which tips the scales at just 3,128 pounds for the Spyder and 3,287 for the Spyder GT.
“When it came to painting a new interpretation of the Esperante, it was very important to not abandon our origins and recognize that an Esperante must look like an Esperante,” said Panoz LLC President and COO Bill Orr. “At the same time, we knew we needed to deliver the performance and features that Panoz sports car aficionados and fans of performance expect in the 21st century.”
Pricing for the 2015 Panoz 25th Anniversary Edition Esperante will start at $179,120 for the Spyder and $204,750 for the Spyder GT.
