2015 Nissan Pulsar Tested: Talking About Space

2015 Nissan Pulsar Tested: Talking About Space 1 photo
Although it has a name that channels your mind towards huge neutron stars, the 2015 Nissan Pulsar we tested deals with another kind of space - the kind for passengers and luggage.
Nissan reintroduced the Pulsar to fill up its empty slot in the C-segment, a highly competitive niche these days. Reintroduced? Yes, the Pulsar nameplate existed since most of the automaker’s models were known as Datsuns. In Europe, the same platform carried the Sunny, Cherry and Almera labels over the generations while the Pulsar designation was used mostly for Asia.

As you can clearly see, the Pulsar is now a somewhat smaller Qashqai version, specially created for city dwellers. Wearing the same lines as the crossover, the hatch rides on a lower suspension and also comes with an increased wheelbase. In fact, it’s the biggest one in its segment.

This also translates into the most generous rear passenger legroom in the C-segment, measuring 692 mm (27.2 inches) in between the backrests. Two adult passengers can easily access all that space via large-opening doors and, thanks to the big footwells, a third occupant can sit in the middle for short to medium distance traveling.

You’d think that having so much space for the passengers will somehow limit the one for luggage. We told you the Pulsar was all about space, so 385 liters (13.6 cu-ft) of luggage is enough to beat two of its most important competitors.

Pair all this space with an economic 1.5-liter diesel engine, a wide array of onboard technologic features, decent sound proofing and ease of driving, and you’ll see the 2015 Nissan Pulsar being a pretty good proposition from the regular class-leading models.
