2015 MV Agusta Turismo Veloce 800 Lusso Is a Cool Sport-Tourer

How about a very long trip aboard an MV Agusta Brutale 800? Yes, sure, why not? Hmm, wait a bit; on second thoughts, maybe the Brutale 800 is not exactly the best bike for a long trip. At least, not if you plan to ride two or three days in a row… because I’ll be “dead and aching” after the first day. Thankfully, if we HAVE to ride am MV Agusta, how about we chose the 2015 MV Agusta Turismo Veloce 800 Lusso? The house of Varese has just unveiled the first official photos and specs for their sport touring machine and things look really neat.

Turismo Veloce is Italian for Fast Tourer, so the name is pretty self-explanatory, aside the inherent cool factor of any bike with an Italian name. The bike is derived from the Brutale 800 but has received a lot of features which have changed the game noticeably. The Lusso suffix, which is the equivalent of Luxury speaks about high-tech helping you ride better, in more comfortable conditions and for a longer time, and not the sue of blingy materials and unseless stuff.

MV Agusta Chassis Stability Control and more electronics

The MV Agusta Chassis Stability Control (MVCSC) is the thing which makes a huge difference when it comes to riding on roads with varying quality. The electronic stability control makes use of the semi-active suspensions. Unlike the Brutale models which employ Marzocchi forks, the Turismo Veloce 800 Lusso uses Sachs absorbers.

The electronic system makes constant adjustments to a lot of parameters in the hydraulic settings and act like Skyhook suspensions. The proprietary MV Agusta algorithm employs a dedicated section of the ECU which monitors the input from the sensor array and makes the necessary adjustments for optimal ground tracking and rider comfort.

There are more electronic systems at play, with the MVICS 2.0 (Motor & Vehicle Integrated Control System) taking care of engine management. Four mappings are available, with corresponding power modes. Touring reduces the maximum power to 100 hp, while the Sport one produces the full 125 horsies.

A Rain mapping engages the highest level of traction control. Obviously, the fourth mode is a Custom one, allowing riders to trim various variables to their liking. “Engine torque curve in-line with power output (two levels), rev limiter cut in point (Hard or Soft), throttle sensitivity (three levels), engine braking (two levels), engine response (two levels) and, naturally, traction control (eight levels),” are mentioned by MV Agusta.

A slipper clutch and shift assistant for clutchless upshifting and downshifting is also stock. A GPS navigator is also integrated with the 5” color TFT display.

Ready to roll

The Turismo Veloce 800 Lusso is ready to hit the road, as a GPS navigator is also integrated with the dash display. Cruise control is a touch of a button away, while the 60-liter (15.8 US gal) combined loading capacity of the aerodynamic panniers is a welcomed addition to the touring-specific equipment. Add in ergonomic, yet sporty seats, beautiful passenger grab rails, full LED lighting and the usual impeccable MV Agusta paintwork and attention to details.

All in all, you’ll be getting a lot of bike for your bucks. A 798cc triple-cylinder capable of producing 125 hp) at 11,600 rpm and a maximum torque of 84 Nm (62 lb-ft ) at 8,600 rpm, loaded in a steel trellis frame with a saddle height of 870mm (34.2“) and with a total dry weight of 207 kg (456 lb), the Turismo Veloce 800 Lusso can load 20 liters (5.3 US gal) of fuel for a really neat range. You can also tick the Bluetooh connectivity, immobilizer system and heated grips boxes on your list, as these are on the house.

We’ll bring you more on this bike from EICMA, plus cool live photos and hopefully a price quote.
