MV Agusta has made a habit in spoiling the surprise ahead of their home show at EICMA, as the first info on the Stradale 800 has surfaced days before the Milan show. The press received a teaser photo with a detail which looked a bit peculiar and hard to get the first time. A closer look (emphasised in the photo gallery below) revealed a turn signal integrated into a side case, while the rest of the bike revealed that the bike was a triple cylinder. Welcome the 2015 MV Agusta Stradale 800!
The 2015 MV Agusta Stradale 800 is the touring version of the Rivale. If riding 10 hours a day on the Rivale sounds alright for you, then the added luggage system and the windscreen should definitely make you smile. And fork out some extra dinero, of course, but nothing is for free in this world, and especially motorcycle touring amenities.

A downtuned 798cc engine

What looks like a Rivale with side cases and a windshield from afar is a completely different on-road story. We expected the 798cc in-line triple to receive the same upgrades the Brutale 800RR and the Brutale Dragster 800RR got, but MV Agusta decided to go the opposite way.

The 2015 Stradale 800 is a powered by a down-tuned version of the engine which brings the Rivale to life. The Rivale’s peak power was cut by 10 horsepower so the 2015 Stradale is not offering only 115 hp at 11,000 rpm. The max torque is 78.5 Nm (57.8 lb-ft) and the engine does not come with the second version of the MVICS (Motor & Vehicle Integrated Control System).

Still the bike benefits from the electronically assisted shifting, the 8 levels of traction control and 4 mappings for the traction control.

Rivale suspensions

As far as suspensions go, the 2015 MV Agusta Stradale 800 is equipped with the same array of Marzocchi forks and a Sachs rear damper, with unchanged travel figures. The ground clearance appears to have also been slightly reduced, and this makes the 870mm (34.2”) tall seat a bit more accessible to riders with a shorter inseam.

The frame is the traditional steel trellis tube, and stopping power comes from dual 320mm front rotors and a single 220mm one. ABS is supplied by Bosch, and is the same unit which equips the new 800RR machines, the 9 Plus, with rear wheel lift-up mitigation.

So the moment when MV Agusta goes adventure will still have to wait a bit. The 2015 Stradale 800 is more of a Ducati Hyperstrada, touring gear added to the base version of a bike, and changing one or two digits in the price figure.
