Things are definitely getting serious in the superbike segment and the latest info arriving from MV Agusta is just confirming the trend. The house of Varese has apparently showed a presentation of the 2015 model year for their flagship F4RR SBK machine, the customer version… which is 8 percent lighter and 5 percent more powerful than the current F4RR.
This means that we are looking at a dry weight of 175 kg (386 lb) and a maximum power output of 210 hp, which is a new threat to the competition, both in terms of absolute figures and power-to-weight ratios.
Lots of new parts for the 2015 MV Agusta F4RR SBK
MV Agusta has been working around the clock to improve the performance and specs of the 2015 model year F4RR. The bike arrives with a new cylinder head, new crankshaft and camshafts. The pistons have also been revised and are now lighter, while corresponding titanium connecting rods have been also used. The new F4RR retains the race-spec fully-adjustable Öhlins suspension and has a Termignoni exhaust.
While the current F4RR machine is already loaded with carbon fiber and magnesium parts, more such lightweight racing-grade components will be available in the “racing kit”, alongside a full lightweight titanium exhaust line and silencer. The price is also racing-grade, as MV Agusta set it at the upper limit of the WSBK regulations and this means we’re in for a €40,000 bike which will be produced in a limited run.
MV Agusta will field the 2015 F4RR in the World Superbike series and we can expect better results from this machine in the future. So far MV Agusta’s Leon Camier and Claudio Corti are 16th and 17th in the Superbike standing, while in the Supersport class, Jules Cluzes is second.
We are heading for EICMA to see it unveiled and will brings you fresh live photos of the new, 210 hp 2015 MV Agusta F4RR SBK beast.
