The house of Varese decided not to play the suspense game and revealed the 2015 Brutal 800RR just ahead of the EICMA. However, since nothing beats the real deal, here are some killer shots of the new naked beast for you to enjoy, together with a round-up of what’s new.
MV Agusta’s three-cylinder recipe turned out to be a really successful one right from the debut, as it offered a neat balance between weight and power. The Brutale 800RR takes things one more step forward and offers even more power and control. The 798cc, 4-stroke, 12-valve DOHC engine is capable to produce 140 horsepower at 13,100 rpm and 86 Nm (63.4 lb-ft) of torque at 10,100 revs. This means a higher revving machine which can deliver 15 extra hp and a 5 Nm (3.7 lb-ft) boost over the base Brutale. And since the overall package is pretty much the same, guess where the money will go.

Everybody seems to dig electronics

MV Agusta’s MVICS (Motor&Vehicle Integrated Control System) was already an acclaimed package of electronic amenities for some of the Varese bikes. The Brutale 800RR however received the 2.0 version of the MVICS, and this basically introduces the latest engine management technologies for flawless performance.

Customers will get six injectors, an Eldor EM2.0 engine control unit, a throttle body with Mikuni drive-by-wire, pencil-coil with ion-sensing technology, detonation and misfire control, torque control with four selectable maps, 8-level traction control and MV EAS 2.0 electronic quick-shift. The clutch is a wet multiplate slipper-type actuating a 6-speed transmission.

Premium features all around

The 2015 Brutale 800RR arrives with the classic Marzocchi upside-down forks in gold anodized color, with individual adjustment for compression and rebound damping and spring preload. The same adjustments are available for the Sachs rear monoshock.

Braking power is delivered via dual 320mm floating rotors squeezed by radial-mount Brembo 4-pot calipers in the front and a 220 similar disc in the rear, but with a 2-piston Brembo caliper. ABS is standard, and the 2015 MV Agusta Brutale 800RR is equipped with Bosch’s 9 Plus system. Rear Wheel Lift-up Mitigation (RLM) is also on the house. The frame is a trellis steel tube design with an aluminium alloy swingarm and the bike rolls with 17”aluminium wheels. Steering precision is enhanced by a manually-adjustable 8-way steering damper.

Lightweight and fun

The 2015 MV Agusta Brutale 800RR tips the scales at 168 kg (370 lb) dry. Even when adding the 16.6 liters (4.4 US gal) of fuel the tank can hold, the Brutale 800RR is a fairly lightweight machine. The seat is 810mm (31.9”) above the street and this might be a bit of a problem or shorter riders, even though not in a dramatic way.

MV Agusta has announced the Italian prices for the new Brutale 800RR. This naked beast will run you €13,980, with local import duties and taxes adding a variation depending on each market. This is a rather hefty hike over the price of the base Brutale, but remember you’re getting the extra power, ABS and all the whistles. (urmeaza sa vad availability la fata locului).

Enjoy these fresh live photos and bear in mind that only two color options are available for the bike: Pearl Shock Red with Pearl Ice White and Metallic Avio Grey with Carbon Metallic Black.
