Just before Christmas, we showed you the very latest spy photos we had of the next new MINI. Some call it the Clubman because they believe it’s a replacement, some call it a Freeman because that’s what the rumors said it’s called a year ago. Regardless of what you call it, it’s really cool.
Why? Because even from the spyshots, we could tell it’s got an original design befitting the very first 6-door hatchback MINI has built and also one of the few cars in the world with such a design.
Earlier today, skilled photoshoper Theophilus Chin has released a rendering of what he believe this new MINI MPV will look like once the camo comes off. We think he got all of the details perfect, including how the greenhouse is shaped and the design of the taillights, which are still a mystery.
As you can see, the Clubman follows the same design cues as other people carriers. Just like everything from the Citroen C4 Picasso to the Opel Insignia Estate or the Audi Q7, the boot opens right at the edge of the car for maximum cargo space. There are no thick roof pillar to obscure driver visibility either.
Earlier today, we saw the very first real-life photos of a 5-door version Cooper S hatchback coming later this year. That adds practicality to the MINI brand as well, but the new Clubman/Freeman is really something else, something for a real family man/woman.
