Just a few days after the Concept Coupe SUV was officially unveiled at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show, Mercedes-Benz decided to unleash at least two camouflaged pre-production versions of the model for real world testing.
Fortunately, two of the spy photographers we collaborate with were at the scene on both occasions, capturing both prototypes. Not only that, but one of them even sent us a batch of spy photos depicting a pre-production version of the upcoming 2015 BMW X6 (F16), which will be a direct competitor for the Mercedes-Benz MLC (C192).
Since the BMW X6 was essentially the “AllSpark” behind the development of the Mercedes-Benz Concept Coupe SUV, ergo of the MLC production version, we thought it would be suitable to put the photos of the two upcoming models into a single batch and let them have at each other via our readers' opinions.
Both the BMW X6 and the future Mercedes-Benz MLC are technically five-door coupe versions of the X5 and M-Class SUVs, respectively, so numerous comparisons between them will be inevitable after they are launched in production.
Even though the MLC is highly-camouflaged, common sense tells us that it will be at least 90 percent identical with the Concept Coupe SUV, with the only major differences residing in the choice of wheels, rearview mirrors and, sadly, the lack of frameless door windows.
The MLC will arrive just a few months after the second generation of the X6 hits the dealerships, meaning that the fight between the two should be quite interesting from most points of view.
As far as technology features go, the Mercedes-Benz should be slightly ahead at least when it comes to the suspension, as the X6 only gets penumatic suspension as an option on the rear wheels, while the MLC will have Airmatic as standard on the V8 models.
So far, the only way in which they can be compared is by using the following spy photos as weapons, as the proportions of the two “five-door coupe SUVs” are clearly distinguishable from beneath their camouflage. We will let you guys choose a winner. If there is one, that is.
