Launched back in 2011, the mid-size SUV from Mercedes-Benz is heading towards a rather early mid-cycle facelift, which is set to be unveiled in production form this autumn, most likely at the 2014 Paris Motor Show.
Sporting an entirely new front end, which takes some styling cues from the newly-introduced design language present on the S-Class W222 and the C-Class W205, the upcoming Mercedes-Benz M-Class W166 facelift will feature full-LED headlights for the first time, along with new side character lines.

Engine-wise, we are expecting the new three-liter twin-turbocharged V6 to replace the somewhat aging 3.5-liter naturally-aspirated V6 from the current ML 350, while the hyper-efficient 9G-Tronic automatic transmission will gradually replace the 7G-Tronic on almost all engines.

A plug-in hybrid version of the same engine is expected sometime in 2015 as well.

On the technology front, the semi-autonomous driving systems present on the S-Class W222, E-Class W212 facelift and the upcoming C-Class W205 will also find their way into the M-Class, making it the most advanced premium SUV in the world from this point of view.
