At the end of the day, the C218 CLS-Class is one of the finest looking automobiles we’ve set our eyes upon. But with the recent Botox job operate by the three-pointed star’s crack team of designers, the 2015 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class is even more of a modern classic.

This is how we imagine the CLS to be when we put of gearhead pants on - in a controlled power slide, showing the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe that the Bavarian is a bit on the hefty side. But hold on for just a second. We reviewed the CLS 250 BlueTEC 4Matic and found out that it’s very hard to wag the tail out.

Don’t get me wrong here - the 4Matic AWD system is masterfully implemented in the E-Class-derived platform, but if it isn’t an AMG model, don’t expect it to be biased towards full opposite lock hoonage. Furthermore, the 2.1L turbo diesel four-banger with 204 PS on tap isn’t exactly a strong case for relentless power.

If circumstances force you into settling for one of the two variations of the 2.1-liter turbo diesel-fed 2015 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class, please do yourself a favor and spec it adequately. At the top of your optional extras of choice list should be the award-winning Multibeam adaptive LED headlights, which are both effective for driving duties and put on a great light show when you unlock the updated CLS and when you start it.

You can’t deny that the streamlined profile of the first generation CLS taught the facelifted second-gen a lesson or two styling-wise. My money would go on the model we’ve recently tested simply because it has a few hard lines here and there, something that was missing on granddaddy W219. Furthermore, the aesthetic update upped the visual front even further due to rather minor, but highly effective changes.

The 2015 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class facelift is many things, depending on the configuration of the powertrain and what wood and leather you opt for from the extensive options list. It has its flaws, alright, but at the end of the day you just look at it, stationary or on the move, and reach the conclusion that it’s one of the prettiest modern vehicles ever made by the peeps from Merc. Besides the 6 wallpapers attached between these lines, our review’s photo gallery has 54 more high-def photos for you to admire.
