The fifth and final model to be built on the highly successful Mercedes-Benz MFA (Modular Front Architecture) platform is getting closer to its reveal, but the Germans are still hard at work testing pre-production prototypes in different parts of the world.
The Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake (X117) in the following spy photos was caught in Lapland, which is known for reindeers, Santa Claus and camouflaged cars from the future.
Although the camouflage seen on the car is rather superfluous, as the overall design is pretty easy to guess just by looking at its bigger CLS brother, the Germans are still keeping the duct taped sheets on it.
Set to be launched at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, the CLA Shooting Brake (X117) will complement the four-door CLA as a stylish alternative to not building more versions of the A-Class, hence the marketing-dictated “Shooting Brake” name.
The good news is that the model will offer improved headroom in the rear, along with better access to the luggage compartment. The bad news is that it might not be sold in the US, as the Americans aren't exactly known for having preferred station wagons over SUVs in the recent two decades.
