2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe Likely to Debut in Frankfurt

2014 was a busy year for Mercedes-Benz, but this year is looking to equal if not overpass that. We saw some of Mercedes-Benz’s weapons of choice in Geneva, but the Stuttgart-based carmakers has big plans ahead. And they include the new C-Class Coupe.

Older rumors were saying that Mercedes will introduce the C-Class Coupe somewhere in December but according to new reports, Stuttgart might make an early move and showcase the C-Class Coupe on their own turf.

According to Autocar, the new C-Class Coupe will take on its executive brother with improved design cues and a better driving experience. Or to put it in Gorden Wagener’s words, “even better to drive than it looks”.

The upcoming C-Class Coupe will be underpinned by the MRA platform, as the rest of the C-Class range. There has been a plethora of spyshots circulating the internet in recent times, already showing a sharply raked windscreen, smoothly integrated into the sloping roofline.

We should also expect minor appearance tweaks here and there, especially in the front end, because Mercedes will most likely treat the car as a sportier model than its sedan and estate peers.

Mercedes will most likely transfer the engine options already available for the C-Class range to the new coupe. In this respect, clients could go for the 2.0-liter four-cylinder 243 HP on the C300 unit as well as the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 good for 333 HP.

A performance Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe version could also be on the table, most likely powered by the already-notorious 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. Mercedes will also launch a convertible version for the C-Class - featuring a folding soft-top model - but there’s still a long way to go until that point.
