Some say the third generation (DE) Mazda2 was a bit of a mongrel because of its platform, which was shared with the Ford Fiesta. I disagree with that because both models are nippy around town and a joy to hurdle into the twisties. The only details that really let me down with the former 2 were the lack of satellite navigation and the too plasticky cabin.
With the fourth generation (DJ), the automaker has thrown away its ties with the Blue Oval and made the 2015 Mazda2 B-segment city dweller from a clean sheet of paper. Look at the photo gallery below and try to think of an offering in the same segment with better aesthetics, both exterior and interior, as well as better materials and fit & finish.
The arrival of the all-new Mazda2 will change the B-segment’s game without a doubt.
With the first European deliveries of the 2 slated for mid-2015, we want to tell you that there’s a Sports Launch Edition available for order, which bundles all the best features in a package that’s worth £14,995 in the United Kingdom, the equivalent of €19,514 or $22,833 according to current exchange rates.
Powered by a 90 PS 1.5-liter SkyActiv-G petrol, engine, the Mazda2 Sports Launch Edition is a steal considering it includes amenities like an integrated satellite navigation system, 16-inch alloy wheels, privacy glass, dusk-sensing lights, rain-sensing front wipers, rear parking sensors and free exterior paint.
Some interesting financing solutions are also available for the Sports Launch Series. But if you want a little something else, fret not - the rest of the 2 range comes with a choice of 12 petrol and 4 diesel variants within a five-level grade structure (SE, SE-L, SE-L Nav, Sport and Sport Nav specifications).
