Fiat Group has invested a huge amount of money from its profitable Chrysler brands into Maserati lineup. This has already resulted in the launch of a very sexy new Quattroporte and a decent smaller sedan (think 5 Series sized) called the Ghibli.
But the one we're really worried about is the Levante SUV, previewed by the Kubang concept back in 2011. It has long been rumored that it would be just a Jeep Grand Cherokee in disguise, but a new report suggest it would have a lot more in common with the Quattroporte.
Edmunds says we can expect the Levante to have some Chrysler electronics, but that's about it. The engine range will start with a 410 horsepower 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6, followed by a bigger 3.8-liter V8 producing 530 horsepower. Both are sourced from the Quattroporte and have been developed by Ferrari. A detuned V6 might also be created for Chinese consumers, but it's too early to tell. The only diesel option will be a 3.0-liter V6 developing 275 hp and 600 Nm of torque (443 lb-ft).
All engines will come with an eight-speed gearbox and will send their power to all four wheels via modified version of the Quattroporte's all-wheel drive system.
