The Lincoln Motor Company announced that it's refreshed Navigator full-size luxury SUV will go on sale early this fall, with a starting MSRP of $62,475 for the entry-level 4x2 model.
Featuring a redesigned exterior design, a revamped interior, a more powerful and economical engine, a suite of customer-focused technologies and luxurious appointments, the all-new Lincoln Navigator has nearly two dozen big upgrades over the outgoing model.
A vehicle that defines the large SUV segment in North America, the 2015 model year Navigator will be available in standard-length (207.4-inch) and extended-length (222.3-inch) versions. The refined exterior incorporates a sleeker front fascia with jewel-like LED lights and HID adaptive headlamps, a newly designed bonnet and a reimagined rear end featuring an electrically operated split tailgate. Exterior design changes are accentuated by the iconic split-wing grille, while puddle lamps create a luminous welcome mat below the front doors.
20-inch aluminum wheels come as standard on all models, but customers can opt for the bigger optional 22-inch polished aluminum alloys for added road presence. The most basic of models is equipped with push-button ignition, a Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with cross-traffic alert, Sync connectivity with MyLincoln Touch, full leather interior and a LED-backlit instrument cluster with tachometer, trip odometer, compass, outside thermometer and message center features.
Compared to the outgoing model, the 2015 Lincoln Navigator in entry-level guise is over $6,300 more expensive and ditches the 5.4-liter V8 for a more powerful 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 mill. With an output of 380 horsepower and 460 lb-ft (623 Nm) of torque, the twin-turbo six-cylinder is coupled to a new six-speed SelectShift automatic gearbox.
Four-wheel drive models of the 2015 model year Navigator get hill start assist, hill descent control and the Lincoln Drive Control system as standard, a feature that offers the driver selectable settings for the continuously controlled damping suspension and electric power-assisted steering.
A new Reserve Package is available as an optional extra, featuring the aforementioned Lincoln Drive Control and 22-inch polished aluminum dishes, premium Ziricote wood trim and a more upmarket type of leather wrapping all three rows of seats, as well as hand-wrapped leather and stitched instrument panel, armrests and center console.
The cheapest 2015 Lincoln Navigator equipped with the Reserve Package retails at $69,975 for the 4x2 model and $72,900 for the 4x4 variant. The longer wheelbase and lengthier 2015 Lincoln Navigator L offers customers an extra 12 inches in wheelbase length. This L version comes as standard with a non-limited-slip 4.10 axle, also available on standard wheelbase versions.
