The British company’s newest nameplate made its North American debut and it’s a machine worth looking for. Slated to go on sale early next year, the LR Discovery Sport is unlike anything else we’ve seen before from the SUV making company.
That’s because this new model differentiates itself from previous seven-seater sport utility vehicles wearing the Land Rover badge due to one major reason - it may be the family-oriented machine with off-road capability we all expected it to be, but the Discovery Sport is also very lavish and technologized.
Looking back at the Land Rover Freelander and LR4 Discovery, the Discovery Sport is a far cry compared to those two maily due to the fact this compact SUV is the first member of a new Discovery family.
Those of you that plan to go to the LA Auto Show, rejoice! LR offers guests the opportunity to drive the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Evoque and Land Rover LR4 over a custom-built course. Although the Discovery Sport is missing from that list, that's a fun experience you shouldn't miss out on. The course will run from 10 am tp 6 pm from November 19th to November 23th. In order to register for the Land Rover Experience L.A., please refer to the press release below for further information.
Slated to be offered in three distinct specifications, the entry-level Discovery Sport SE features partial leather upholstery partial, the Terrain Response feature for off-road enthusiasts and a neat 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The mid-range Discovery Sport HSE adds amenities like Xenon headlights, full leather seats, 8-way power front seats, a handy power liftgate and a panoramic roof.
As for the range-topping 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport HSE Luxury, this trim level comes with seats that are dressed in buttery Windsor Leather, 10-way power front seats, illuminated sill plates, an 11-speaker audio system, satellite navigation and an upgraded infotainment system. The more frugal 2.2-liter SD4 turbo diesel won't arrive in the US because that's presently a Europe-only powerplant.
