2015 KTM Adventure Bikes US Prices Announced

KTM announces the 2015 model year adventure bike line-up which will cross the pond into the US market and the MSRP figures for these machines, and the list includes the most recent 1290 Super Adventure beast, as well.

KTM dealers will soon be able to offer 4 bikes in the adventure-touring class, with two names missing from the dream list and one extra addition still uncertain. But we’ll be back at these after the short presentation.

2015 KTM 690 Enduro R

The 2015 MY 690 Enduro R is the smallest and the cheapest KTM in the segment, and will be available for a MSRP of $10,499, with the steel-level price possibly lower. This machine offers excellent features in a package that’s light and powerful enough to comply with the requirements of both enduro riding and touring, being an excellent workhorse, too. Its 66 hp single is a nifty complement for the 139 kg (307 lb) dry weight, and cool additions such as the ATPC slipper clutch and WP Suspension are making it quite a worthy choice.

2015 1190 Adventure and Adventure R

The 1190 Adventure twins are also crossing the Atlantic and will be offered for $16,699 and $16,999, respectively. Frankly, if you’re eyeing going big and orange, it’s a mystery why would anyone get skimpy on spending three hundred bucks and not get the R version straight away. I mean, if you believe you’re deep into such riding that needs an 1190 Adventure, why not go the (short) extra mile and get a 21” front wheel and crashbars?

Both machines deliver 148 hp and are almost identical, with the seat of the R version being a tad higher than the one on the base model. This last aspect might be one of the reasons for choosing the 1190 Adventure over its R- suffixed sister, and in case the latter is not accompanied by a low seat option, there’s really nothing we can say to the customers who went for the former.

2015 1290 Super Adventure

KTM’s flagship tourer is expected to hit the US market with a $19,099 MSRP, but the official price tag will most likely be announced at the Long beach International Motorcycle Show next month. Powered by the engine of the 1290 Super Duke R, this ultra-tourer puts 160 hp at the fingertips of the rider, with a huge 30-liter (7.9 US gal) fuel tank and a surprising (in a good way) 229 kg (505 lb) dry weight.
The 1290 Super Adventure will be loaded with the latest electronics Mattighofen can offer, including semi-active suspensions, fancy ABS, riding modes and more.

Missing from the list…

There are three bikes missing from what could be a “dream list”. The first is the 1050 Adventure we mentioned earlier on autoevolution, a bike which is yet to be launched, so it’s no wonder KTM is silent about it. If it will be indeed launched at the AIMExpo or EICMA, it will be added later to the roster.

Then it’s the phased-out 990 Adventure, which was sold in a Baja trim until recently, but it looks like its place will be taken by the 1190 model. This means that you could get a nice deal for the 990 Adventure from dealers still stocking that bike.

Finally, it’s the 390 Adventure, a bike rumored to be built on the existing 390 Duke platform but about which KTM said it will not arrive, at least not now. However, in the absence of a definitive “no”, we can still hope that a small, lightweight adventure KTM will arrive in 2015, as it’s obvious that the good price and its performance will draw a lot of customers who now have a very limited number of bikes in the segment to choose from.
