For the 2015 model year, the popular Kia Forte compact car received reinforced structural enhancements and an extensive list of safety features as standard. The second-gen 2015 Kia Forte four-door was awarded with a 5-star overall rating by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Although it costs just $15,890 (excl. destination, handling, title, taxes, license fees and dealership charges), the little South Korean model earned a maximum 5 stars in the side-impact crash test and a respectable 4 stars in the frontal and rollover tests.

Engineers have used more high-strength steel than before, especially for the A-pillars and lower side sills. Even the entry-level LX specification is laden with safety features such as a plethora of airbags, electronic stability control, traction control and Vehicle Stability Management (VSC), as well as an impact-absorbing steering column, a brake assist system and electronic brake-force distribution.

Orth Hedrick, vice president of product planning at Kia Motors America, declared: “NHTSA’s recent 5-star rating of the 2015 Forte reinforces Kia’s commitment to safety. The Forte combines striking design, outstanding quality and the exceptional value our brand is known for with the security of knowing the vehicle you own has performed well in NHTSA’s rigorous crash tests. We are extremely proud of the engineering that went into the second-generation Forte, and NHTSA’s testing has validated that effort with this 5-star rating.”

Penned at Kia's Stateside design studio in Irvine, California, the Forte slots between the Rio sedan and the Optima mid-size sedan and boasts with broad shoulders and modern styling cues. Apart from the entry-level LX, the top-of-the-range EX trim boasts with more standard kit, some extra cosmetic sauce both inside and out, and a more powerful 173 hp 2-liter four-pot mill mated to a six-speed automatic.
