As we announced earlier, Kawasaki has started to unveil the liveries of the 2015 bikes, and we’ve got the details on the new Z1000SX machine. The recipe for this successful sport-touring bike was not changed much, since it was already proven as a popular bike among those who favor sport performance and long-haul comfort and convenience.

The 2015 Z1000SX is powered by a liquid-cooled 1,043cc 4 in-line engine, which can produce up to 142 horsepower at 10,000 revs, and a peak torque of 111Nm (81.8 lb-ft) at 7,300 rpm. With a curb mass of 230 kg (508 lb), the new Z1000SX should be quite a thrilling ride even for the more demanding sport bike enthusiasts.

The injection system uses 4 Keihin oval 38mm throttle bodies with a dual throttle valve system for an even smoother torque deployment when twisting the throttle harder. The 6-speed manual gearbox is operated by a manual wet multi-disc clutch and uses a sealed chain final transmission. The KTRC traction control system is standard, just like the Full and Low Power engine mappings, with the Low one reducing the output by 75-80%.

The tubular aluminium frame comes with an aluminium rear subframe with integrated underseat storage, and uses a horizontal back-link gas-charged, adjustable damper, with fully adjustable 41mm inverted forks for the front end. Dual semi-floating 300mm petal rotors in the front are squeezed by radial, opposed 4-piston calipers, while the rear wheel is equipped with a 250mm petal disc and a single-pot caliper. Lightweight cast sporty wheels are also standard.

An underbelly pre-chamber in the exhaust route allows Kawasaki to use shorty mufflers for better weight optimization and mass centering. Add in LED turn signals and taillight, aluminium passenger grips, a most convenient adjustable windscreen for optimal comfort both in the city and on the highway, the generous 19-liter (5 US gal) tank and the Eco Riding light indicator for saving on fuel when not in a hurry or sporty mood.

The standard version of the 2015 Kawasaki Z1000SX is available in the UK for £9,299 (€11,650 or $15,560), while the ABS-equipped model is £400 (€500 or $670) more expensive. Accessory top case, hard saddlebags and more are also available.
