2015 Infiniti Q70 Gets Refresh and Long Wheelbase Version

Infiniti has just announced upgrades to the 2015 Q70 luxury sedan, which will go on display later today at the New York Auto Show. The model still looks the way it did when we used to call it the M, but styling tweaks have been made and now the headlights and grille look just like on the newer Q50. It's a subtle change, but still one that demands a second look.

What's not so subtle is the new Q70L model. It's the biggest improvement coming to the 2015 model year, a longer wheelbase version of the car with 5.9 extra inches added to the wheelbase, which now measures 120.1 inches. This not only changes the cabin space for the better, but also adds a touch of elegance to the profile.

Both the new Q70L and the regular wheelbase Q70 will share a new look. At the front, Infiniti has added new LED headlights which they say "imply inner intelligence and human insight, leaving an unforgettable impression". We don't know about that, but they do look good, especially in combination with the new double-arch grille Just like on the smaller Q50, they now offer a mesh grille instead of black strips, which makes it look sportier.

Round the back, the 2015 Q70 gets a new set of LED taillights. The premium maker also says it's flattened the top line of the trunk and slimmed down the rear bumper to "create a longer and lower visual impression, further emphasizing the premium sedan's sporty and powerful styling."

"We know our customers desire more choice and prestige. The long wheelbase Q70 is our offer to them," said Vincent Gillet, Vice President, Marketing, Infiniti Motor Company Limited. "The Q70 delivers on all accounts - attention to detail, highly crafted materials, class-leading rear roominess, comfortable ride, and superior levels of interior quietness."

The engines for the 2015 are carryovers from the older model and include the 330 hp 3.7-liter V6, its 420 hp 5.6-liter V8 brother and a hybrid system. Infiniti reminds us that this is the same system that earned the M its title of world's fastest accelerating full-hybrid car in September 2011, thanks to an overall power output of 360 hp.
