Just as we guessed earlier, the new Indian motorcycle is the successor of the old Scout. However, it’s this bike that makes the definitive step into the new, modern Indian era, as it packs the first-ever liquid-cooled engine. And to make things even better, the 2015 Indian Scout comes with a killer price just under $11,000 (€8,195) which also makes owning one less of daunting financial perspective.
Funny how well has Polaris kept secret the development of this new engine, but the figures are truly awesome. The all-new liquid-cooled power plant delivers 100 hp and 72 lb-ft (just under 98Nm) at 5,900 revs. The 69 cui (1,133cc) injected mill is painted black, with polished accents harking back to the looks of the old one, and is exceptionally integrated in a new, modern frame, with a very low center of gravity and centralized mass.

Indian says that the 2015 Scout will handle better than any bike in its class, while also providing excellent corner clearance for fast rides around the bend. The 6-speed manual transmission feeds power to the rear wheel by means of a belt drive, and the engine cases are proudly showing off iconic Indian machined branding.

Beefy 16” tires shoe the modern cast wheels, while single-disc brakes provide stopping power. No ABS mentions have been made, so it looks like there will be none for the 2015 Scout. The Scout remains a solo machine, and it’s possible that Indian offers a passenger seat as an option. Saddlebags are surely to be on the optional list, just like a windscreen, custom-look exhausts and more.

Riders will be hovering 25.3 inches (63.5 cm) off the ground, so a firm, reassuring foothold at slow speed or when stopped adds to the overall confidence when aboard the 2015 Scout. Instrumentation was kept visually simple, also remembering the old-school styling. The gauge offers digital tachometer, odometer, trip meter, engine temp, and low fuel lamp readings.

The 2015 Indian Scout comes with a 3.3 gallon tank (12.5 liters) and this might be the only drawback. The dry mass is 538 lb (244 kg), making the Scout quite a promising machine. Multiple financing options are also available, in case you’re not into a cash mood. The bike will be offered in four color options: Thunder Black, Indian Red, Silver Smoke and Black Smoke.
