Hyundai Motor America just announced that the updated 2015 model year Tucson is now available in dealerships nationwide, holding a base price of just $21,500. Also known as the ix35 and JM on other markets, the latest iteration of the crossover is offered with standard LED taillights on the Limited model, while an optional Popular Equipment Package has been added to enhance the GLS trim level.
Excluding the $875 freight charges, the entry-level front-wheel drive 2015 Hyundai Tucson GLS can be yours for a tad over $21k, while the most expensive Limited model with all-wheel drive and partial zero-emissions technology commands a $27,800 sticker price. While all models are fitted with a six-speed Shiftronic automatic gearbox, customers can opt between either a 2 or a 2.4-liter GDI four-pot engine.
The Popular Equipment Package available only on both FWD and AWD versions of the GLS trim level costs $700 and includes lots of useful bits and bobs. Starting with a rearview parking camera and a 4.3-inch color touchscreen infotainment system, other highlight goodies include an 8-way power driver seat with power lumbar support, leatherette seat bolsters with cloth inserts and automatic headlight control.
Noteworthy standard features include 17-inch alloy wheels, projector headlights with LED daytime running lights, LED brake lights (on the Tucson Limited), remote keyless entry, alarm, power windows, door locks and mirrors, as well as an audio system that supports AM, FM, Sirius XM radio, as well as CD and MP3 playback. Bluetooth hands-free phone connectivity is also on the standard kit list, along with iPod connectivity, an USB slot for your favorite tunes and an auxiliary input jack.
In terms of safety, the 2015 Hyundai Tucson offers a wide suite of features including advanced front, front-side impact and side-curtain airbags with rollover sensors, as well as ABS with electronic brake force distribution and Brake Assist. Last but not least, the Korean automaker has also thrown in goodies such as Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) with Downhill Brake Control (DBC), Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with Traction Control System (TCS), tire pressure monitoring system and active front head restraints.
