It's great to have a brand new sportscar or a flagship sedan, but without a bread and butter affordable model for the masses, no brand can survive for long. That's precisely why Hyundai has completely redesigned the Sonata for the 2015 model year in order to compete with ever more competent rivals such as the Ford Fusion and Toyota Camry.
The new Sonata model is yet to be officially shown to a single American customer, but it has been revealed in its domestic Korean market a few days ago. We've brought you the 'official word" yesterday, but the next video will show you what the car actually looks like in person.
It seams they have done a descent job on the styling, and interiors are not to bad. Hyundai say they've worked hard to reduce the noise, vibration and harshness, improved driving dynamics and reduce fuel consumption.
Remember, this is the midsize family sedan segment, so doing a decent job of everything is actually good enough. The only niggle we have with the design is that the black sensor under the badge is way overstated.
The new Sonata is expected to make a US debut at the New York Auto Show. The engine lineup is expected to be a carryover, though besides EcoBoost no brand new engines have been introduced in the midsize segment for a while now.
“The Sonata has been playing a key role in Hyundai Motor’s rapid growth in the global market, as well as leading the development of the Korean auto industry. We are confident that the all-new Sonata will change the landscape of the global mid-size sedan market,” Choong Ho Kim, CEO of Hyundai Motor Co.
