Toyota's new hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, which is scheduled to hit the market as a 2015 model year car, will make its debut at the 2013 Toyota Motor Show in November.
According to Bloomberg, the FCV-R Concept-based sedan will go on sale in 2014 with a price "in the neighborhood of $50,000", which will make it competitive against the Tesla Model S electric car or a mid-size gasoline BMW.
The new hydrogen-powered vehicle will reportedly have a range of about 300 miles (438 kilometers) on a single tank. No other details have been revealed, but the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show should provide more about Toyota's "new Prius".
The Japanese-based company won't be the only one to introduce a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle for the 2015 model year. Hyundai is already building an H-powered ix35 SUV which can travel 369 miles (594) on a single tank. The Korean-company has delivered 15 units of the Fuel Cell ix35 to the City of Copenhagen in Denmark and plans to offer the SUV for costumer use starting 2015.
