After the 2015 Chevrolet IndyCar showed us in February its road course / short oval aero kit, Honda Performance Development followed suit with even more dramatic-looking aerodynamic kit. Don't know about you, but the 2015 season of the Verizon IndyCar Series gets better and better as days pass by.
Produced in-house by HPD, the 2015 Honda IndyCar aerodynamics package is made up of roughly 200 individual bits and pieces that can be fitted to existing Dallara racecar chassis. I’m not the easy-to-impress type, but the hawkish front wing alone trumps Chevy’s package to kingdom come as far as sight is concerned.
Only time will tell if the aggressive beauty of the HPD aero package will be competitive enough to pose a threat to what Chevrolet developed. "Coupled to our proven Honda Indy V6 engines, these aero kit are the products of literally thousands of hours of research, development and testing,” said Art St. Cyr, president of HPD.
Slated to make their public debut next week (March 16th-17th) at the Open Test at Barber Motorsports Park near Birmingham, Alabama, the all-new Honda IndyCar aero kit will be put through its paces on March 29th, when the 2015 Verizon IndyCar Series starts with the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, Florida.
Mr. Cyr, who also acts as the vice prez of auto operations for American Honda, also declared: “We believe we have a superior aerodynamic and engine package. We're looking forward to the start of the 2015 season on the streets of St. Petersburg, and taking on the battle for the Manufacturers' Championship." This being said, Penske’s Will Power dominated the 2014 season behind the wheel of a Chevy-powered racer...
