2015 Honda Fit Could be This Year’s SEMA Darling

Each year at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show, two vehicles that always tend to be popular are newly introduced models and sporty small cars. This bodes extremely well for the all-new 2015 Honda Fit, and Honda has announced that no fewer than six Fit hatchbacks will be in attendance thanks to the Fit Performance Experience.
Honda picked six tuners to go to work on the Fit including Kontrabrands, MAD Industries, Spoon Sports USA, Tjin Edition, Kenny Vinces and Bisimoto Engineering. Last year, Bisimoto brought a 2014 Honda Odyssey to SEMA fitted with a twin-turbo V-6 producing more than 1,000 hp, but we doubt anything that extreme will be applied to the Fit. Instead, it sounds like Honda is looking to highlight the styling of the new Fit with the standard SEMA fare: body kits, wheels and paint.

The cool part of this campaign, though, is that Honda will be documenting the builds of the six cars on Tumblr using the hashtag #ProjectFit. Each team will be submitted videos and images for their respective builds, and Honda’s followers on Tumblr can vote for their favorite. The team with the highest number of likes and reblogs will get a prize from Honda, but the automaker has not yet announced what that entails.

"Personalized Honda subcompacts were the foundation of the original import tuner revolution, and the all-new Fit upholds that legacy with a great powertrain, an engaging chassis and renowned Honda quality, all at an affordable price. Our Fit project vehicle program and our Tumblr initiative, #ProjectFit, together offer a unique, fun way to demonstrate the personalization potential of this great new car," said Jeff Conrad, senior vice president and general manager of the Honda.

All six of these customized Honda Fit hatchabcks will be on display at the 2014 SEMA Show, which runs from November 4-7.
