Honda’s top-drawer big-bore off-road CRF450R machine shows up, proudly boasting premium features which will help riders get a step closer to their trophies in 2015. Already a beats which has proven more than once its capabilities on the track, the CRF450R in its 2015 iteration brings even more premium technologies to the off-road game.
The most important upgrade is probably the 3-mode engine management system. Riders can easily cycle through three engine mappings: Standard, Smooth and Aggressive, by using their right thumb to press a conveniently-located Engine Mode Select Button (EMSB) on the right bar, near the throttle. Dialing in different power delivery maps allows riders to adapt very quickly to the varying condition of different tracks. And since we’re talking competition this time, the optional HRC Tuning Tool will allow riders and mechanics to load custom-tailored Smooth and Aggressive maps, as well.

The smaller brother of the CRF450R, the 2015 Honda CRF250R was equipped with a Showa fork, but this top-notch monster shows upside-down 48mm KYB Pneumatic Spring Forks, easily adjustable with an air pump. The revised forks come with new high-low-speed compression and rebound-damping adjustments, offering a more precise setup for better ground tracking. At the same time, a new KYB rear shock was equipped on the 2015 CRF450R, with easily-accessible setup screws for fast, hassle-free adjustments.

The transmission was revisited, too, and stronger gears have replaced the old ones, even though the size remained unchanged. A new cylinder head was loaded and it sports a with layout, with the exhaust header exiting from the right side and this being 320mm shorter, with a good impact on the top-end power and low-end torque. At the same time, a new, stronger piston with a different heat-treatment was used, and revised PGM-FI settings came in place.

New Dunlop MX52 tires, a new front brake 260mm system, revised graphics and better aluminum frame are also present on the 2015 CRF450R, alongside Honda’s Progressive Steering Damper (HPSD). The new CRF450R now weighs 243 lbs (110 kg) wet just like the previous model year. We’re waiting for the official price.
